Information about the emerald
It weighs at a stagering 1,800,000 carats. Where emerald are sold at 1000+ US$ per carat. This enormous emerald was found in 2001 and was appraised for more than 400 million US$. They were found by miners deep in the jungle where there was no transportation and carrying back this huge emerald was very difficult for the miners, in which they came across various natural dangers and thief’s before they arrive at USA. The Bahia Emerald has got a very fascinating story to it and I would highly recommend you to watch the National Geographic premier on Explorer this weekend.
If you are not aware of Bahia, it is a province in Brazil and this gemstone has many importance to it and a big story behind it as people struggle for making hold of this gemstone.
