This page gathers the stones in our collection graded VS — very slightly included. In practical terms, a VS gem carries inclusions that require magnification to locate and that do not disturb the stone's appearance to the unaided eye at normal viewing distance. It is the grade most fine jewellery is built around: visually clean, yet without the scarcity premium attached to the very highest clarity categories.
The varieties represented here are Aquamarine, Paraiba Tourmaline, Blue Zircon, Sphene and Spessartite Garnet. Clarity expectations differ by species, and this matters when comparing across them. Aquamarine and blue zircon are frequently encountered with very few inclusions, so VS sits comfortably within the norm. Copper-bearing Paraiba tourmaline, sphene and spessartite garnet are, by nature, more often included — in these, a VS stone represents a genuinely clean example for its species.
When choosing, weigh clarity against the qualities that define each gem: the neon saturation of Paraiba, the dispersive fire of sphene and zircon, and the mandarin warmth of spessartite. Consider where inclusions sit — those beneath a crown facet read differently from those near a girdle.
