This page gathers every gemstone in our collection sourced from Cambodia, a country long associated in the trade with fine zircon. The varieties represented here are Blue Zircon and Zircon in its other natural colours, grouped so you can consider Cambodian material as a single origin rather than searching variety by variety.
Zircon is one of the more remarkable species in gemmology. It carries a high refractive index and notably strong dispersion, which gives well-cut stones a bright, fiery return of light that is often compared to diamond. It is also strongly doubly refractive, so facet edges can appear subtly doubled when viewed through the crown in larger stones — a characteristic of the species, not a flaw. Blue zircon owes its familiar electric, slightly steely blue to heat treatment, a long-established and accepted practice for this material; other colours occur naturally across warm honey, golden and reddish-brown tones.
When choosing between stones here, weigh colour saturation, the precision of the cut — zircon rewards careful proportioning — and size against wearability, as the species is softer and more brittle at the facet edges than sapphire or spinel.
